Tie Down Restraint

When fitting a hoist we always strongly recommend fitting a safety tie down restraint for your wheelchair or mobility scooter.

The damage caused by carrying a loose object of this size in an accident or even during heavy braking doesn’t bare thinking about. Some wheelchairs and scooters can easily weigh as much as a person and it is unthinkable for a person to travel without wearing a seatbelt, the same applies here. The existing fixings in a vehicles boot aren’t designed to carry such weight and therefore aren’t a suitable substitute for this kind of system.

The most common type of restraint is the retractable kind. This is just like a normal seatbelt on an inertia reel, it’s very simple in operation to place around your wheelchair or scooter making it safe for your journey.
